Connections
The camera trigger cables are hand made by Smart Eye AB to work together with our exponator box.
The trigger cable goes from the camera to the exponator, whereas the USB cables goes from the camera to the computer.
The USB3 cameras uses a lot of bandwidth and should be connected to a dedicated USB3 controller on the receiving computer. That is why we install USB3 expansion card in our stationary computers, where each slot on the expansion card has its own USB3 controller. The most important features of this card are that it uses one separate host controller for each port and that you can apply extra SATA power to the card from the computer to power the cameras.
Physical order of the cameras
In Smart Eye Pro, the camera order should go from left to right with ascending numbers. Smart Eye Pro picks the cameras in order of the Device User ID in Pylon Viewer, if specified, and Device Serial Number if not.
When Smart Eye delivers the systems, they are numbered camera C1, C2, C3, etc. in the same order as the serial numbers. If for some reason the setup has changed, try to reorder the cameras physically if possible. If that’s not a viable option, you can reassign the cameras User ID in Pylon Viewer. Here are a few tips to use.
- Each available camera will be displayed with it’s Device User ID and Device Serial Number in the USB camera list in Pylon Viewer.
- Press Open Camera > Device Serial Number > Device Control > Device User ID.
- Select the opened camera in the USB camera list and click Continuous Shot to get a video feed from the camera.
- Change the Device User ID of the cameras.
Troubleshooting
- The cameras are not found in Smart Eye Pro (the images are white)
- You might have the wrong license file, with the wrong camera, loaded in Smart Eye Pro
- Open the Pylon Viewer software and make sure that it detects the correct number of cameras as USB3.
- Make sure that the number of cameras in Smart Eye Pro hardware settings are not higher then the actual number of cameras.
- Not all cameras are detected in Smart Eye Pro or the Pylon Viewer software.
- This might happen after a new installation of the drivers. Make sure to restart the computer after camera driver installation.
- Sometimes the cameras need a reboot, this is done by removing all power supply to the cameras. Remember that the cameras are powered by the USB3 cables.
- Sometimes the computer/controllers have problem detecting all cameras at the same time. Try plugging in one camera at a time. Make sure that you are providing enough power for the cameras. If using an expansion card in a PC, make sure power from the PSU (ex. SATA power) is connected to the expansion card.
- One or more cameras are detected as USB2 (High-Speed) in Pylon Viewer software.
- Make sure that the USB cables are connected to USB3 ports.
- Make sure that the USB cables used are USB3 classified.
- Go through the same steps as in Troubleshooting #2.
